The intelligent design of technological systems and their user interfaces simplify our everyday lives and make them more comfortable. "Assistive technology" provides for the required level of mobility and helps people to keep in touch with others. It warns and protects against hazards, accompanies people in their daily routines, in medical healthcare and rehabilitation.
Technical knowledge and expertise alone is not enough to develop assistive products or provide advice in this field – you also have to know and understand users' needs and options. For this reason our expertise and competence includes multimodal interaction with technical systems (e.g. naturally, by speech), as well as the design and evaluation of technical systems from the standpoint of a user-centred or universal design, and consultation on issues relating to assistive technology.
